Arcades catered to children by providing video games, rides, and of course the ever popular junk food. The first arcade games were about the size of refrigerators. These games required a quarter to play. 25 cents bought about 1 minute to 10 minutes of fun. The better you were at the game, the longer it lasted. | The evolution of gaming systems could not be stopped. The high demand for games grew. There were a number of reasons the appetite for this type of entertainment increased. These reasons included, technological advancements, the desire by parents to keep children closer to home, and even the re-birth of slugs.
