The moose is the largest type of deer in the
world, however, it doesn't look much like a deer. The males have broad
shoulders, which are six feet from its hooves. Their large shoulders
help them reach the smaller plants to eat. The moose's body is full of
muscle, giving it an apparent humpback shape. Their flattened antlers
are five feet apart from each other and covered with a light fuzz known
as velvet. Moose have great noses,
and have a larger top lip than the bottom lip. The moose has hollow fur,
which keeps it warm throughout the long winter, and is
seen in colors like black, gray, or light brown. It's rear legs are
slightly shorter than the front legs, so it makes it easier to jump over
obstacles in the forest.

The Moose eats a lot of food in
order to keep its oversized body healthy and strong. Moose prefer
to eat lots of willow and avoid eating spruce. Despite this, the
moose feeds on many plants and vegetation, like food in your garden, and
water plants, which are good for the nutrients needed for the moose's
antlers. Foods specially eaten in the spring include leaves,
twigs, shrubs, and buds of trees. A moose's winter diet consists of
timbered foods such as balsam, birch, and dogwood trees. These healthful
provisions keep the moose wholesome and nourished. |

The mating season takes place
in early fall. One to three calves are usually born during the
springtime or summertime. Each moose is able to walk within a day, and
they develop a keen sense of smell and good swimming ability. As they
grow, it is evident that moose have terrible sight. The calves
stay with the mothers for two years before leaving. |
