| Digital Artist John Harper has been photographing “Open Wheel” auto racing since the start of the Long Beach Grand Prix. He has traveled to over one dozen venues photographing CART, Formula One and Indy Racing League events. Over the last 20 years he has been to Long Beach, Ontario, Riverside, Fontana, Phoenix, Monterey, Portland, Vancouver BC, Denver, Milwaukee, Detroit, Indianapolis, Nazareth and Miami. From these venues, it is hoped, will come a series of digital art renderings representing both the drama of a high speed race car and the color of the venue itself. | ||

| Mr. Harper was educated as a chemical engineer and has practiced this art for almost 50 years, including the authoring of 5 US Patents in the field of high temperature polymers. Using his computer to manage his business, it familiarized him with the computer and its opportunities in visual arts. | ||
| He recognized that a simple picture of a race, or of a car in a montage of images of the event, can tell a story, but digitally modifying it makes it all the more dramatic. His use of vibrantly colored digital brushes enhances the moment when the race car jumps into the scene. While the excitement of the event brings bright colors into focus, the roar of the 800 horsepower engine speeding over 200 mph or screeching around a corner or slamming on the brakes electrifies the moment. And this moment is caught in brilliantly colored artistry. | ||
